Biography

Solovyov Alexander (13.09.1926, v-ge Solani, Leningrad region, Russia – 23.05.2021, Vitebsk), Belarusian artist of the theater. Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus (1982). He graduated from Leningrad Higher Art and Industrial College named after V. Mukhina (1957), Belarusian Theatre and Art Institute (1965). Since 1965 he is in Vitebsk. In 1977-90 the chief artist of Belarusian State Academic Drama Theatre named after Yakub Kolas. A member of Belarusian Union of Artists (1966). He lived in Vitebsk.

He worked in theatre-decorative art, easel painting and graphics.

He has designed more than 100 perfomances, including «Symon the Musician» by Yakub Kolas (1976), «Kastus Kalinouski» by V. Karatkevich (1978), «Threshold» by A. Dudarev (1982), «Romeo and Juliet» by William Shakespeare (1986), «Mudromer» by N. Matukovsky (1988), «Love and Intrigue» by A. Petrushevskaya (1989) and others.

Alexander Solovyov is the author of paintings: «Two Birds» (1984), «Nocturne» (1998), «Reflections» (2003), «Impromptu» (2008), «Warning» (2008), «Nostalgia» (2008), «Dream» (2008), «Composition» (2009), «Galaxy» (2010), «Metamorphosis» (2010), a triptych «Dedication to a Women» (2007); cycles «Colors of the Earth» (1974-85), «Rus» (1975-85), «Theatre» (1977-80), «Space» (1978-82) and others.
