Biography
Barankovskaya Svetlana (08.02.1965, Lyudinovo, Kaluga region, Russia), Belarussian artist. She graduated from Vitebsk Technological College (1984), the Department of Art Design of Textile and Light Industry Products of Vitebsk State Technological University (1997). Since 2000 she is a member of Belarussian Union of Designers. Since 2002 she is a member of Belarusian Union of Artists. She lives in Vitebsk.
Svetlana works mainly in art textile, in a smooth hand weaving, creates costumes, paints compositions in oils.
The center place in her creative work occupy the themes related to the history of Belarus, tales, legends, folklore and ethnographic heritage of the people, the embodiment of the images of famous historical figures and contemporaries.
The inherent features of Svetlana's textile compositions are experimental nature, elegance and expressiveness of color and plastic solution, the combination of ornamentality and three-dimensionality, symbolic nature of images, laconism and minimalism of used visual means.
Among her works are: the textile composition «The Sun in the Glass» (1998), «Bereginya» (2002), «Zhiten» (2004), «The Mother of God Ostrabramaskaya» (2005), «Pine Forest on Rogneda's Hill» (2010), a series of works «The Eternal» (1999), «By Olgerd's Way» (2002), «I had a life...» (2004), the portraits of V. Bykov (2008), R. Baradulin (2007), Ya. Kupala (2008–09), Ya. Drozdovich (2008–09).
Svetlana's painting is characterized by figuration, realistic display of depicted motive, emotional expressiveness of the image. The central place belongs to the landscape composition: «St. Nichols' Cathedral» (2007), «St. Anthony's Catholic Church» (2007), «Selischansky Church of St. Veronica» (2006), «Druya Church» (2008), «Plater's Manor in Opsa» (2009) and still lives.
