Biography

 

Branshteter Pavel (02.09.1954, v-ge Maksimovka, Gorodok district, Vitebsk region – 08.03.2022, Vitebsk), a Belarusian photographic artist. He graduated from Art and Graphic Department of Vitebsk State Pedagogical Institute (1981). Pavel studied under I. Stolyarov, L. Antimonov, O. Orlov. In 1984–2001 the artist worked as a photographer at the institute «Vitebskselstroyproject», since 2004 he taught at Design Department of Vitebsk State Technological University. He is a member of Belarusian public association «Photoiskusstvo (PhotoArt)». Pavel Branshteter was also a member of the Belarusian Union of Designers. He lived in Vitebsk.

The artist works in the genres of portraiture, still life, reportage, nude, landscape. There are «A Retreating Belarus. Vitebsk Land» and «Visual Diary» series that dominate his creative work.

Among the major works are: «Homewards» (1983), «Hands» (1987), «Aged Car» (2006), «My Belarus» (2007), «Komsomol Retro» (2008), «Pillbox» (2009) «Melancholic Object» (2010); the series «Vitebsk Suprematistic Style» (2007), «Yet Another Spring» (2008), «Decorativeness Bug» (2009), etc.
The artist's works were published in the magazines «PHOTO@VIDEO», «Photomagazin (Photoshop)», «Photomagiya», «Belarus», «Znamya Yunosti (The Banner of Youth)».
