Biography
Vasilyeva Galina (28.12.1959, Polotsk, Vitebsk region), Belarusian artist. She graduated from Art and Graphic Department of Vitebsk State Pedagogical (1982). Galina Stepanovna worked as a lecturer at Design Subdepartment of Vitebsk State Technological University (1992), an associate professor at Design Subdepartment (1998), a member of a creative unification «4-63» (1989–91). Since 1993 she is a member of Belarusian Union of Artists. Galina Stepanovna is a participant of the 1st and the 2nd International Open Air «Malevich. UNOVIS. Modernity»; the projects «ln-formation» (1994, 1997, 1999, 2000). Lives in Vitebsk.
Galina Stepanovna works in the field of conceptual art (art projects, actions), abstract painting. She is an organizer of the art actions «Sundial» (1996, Vitebsk), performances «In memory of V. Yurchenko» (1999, Vitebsk), «Self Portrait» (2000, Polotsk), «Dedication to Malevich» (2008, Vitebsk), projects «Constructio» (together with V. Vasilyev, 2001, Vitebsk, 2003, Minsk, Orsha and Polotsk).
Simple geometric shapes, laconic constructiveness, rigor plastic solutions, the use of local color spots dominate in the works of the artist.
Among the works are: paintings «Red Moon», «The Great Venus», «Music Lessons», «Knowledge», «12», «Squares», «Triangles and Segments», series «The Wall», «Flight», «Brown Structures», triptych «Blue Variations», etc.
The works are held in the museums, private collections, galleries of Latvia, Germany, England, Israil, Poland, the USA, Lithuania, Belarus, Russia.
