Biography

 

Dranenko Nikolai Alekseevich (03.08.1946, v-ge. Morgoytsy, Senno district, Vitebsk region), Belarusian artist. He graduated from Art and Graphic Department of Vitebsk State Pedagogical Institute (1969). He was taught by I. Stolyarov, E. Krasovsky. In 1979-82 the artist worked as a chief designer at Vitebsk Art Workshops. He served as a chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Organization of Belarusian Union of Artists (2004). Since 1995 Nikolai Alekseevich is a member of the association «Vitebsk Watercolors», since 1989 – a member of Belarusian Union of Artists. Lives in Vitebsk.

Nikolai Alekseevich works in easel painting, watercolors, monotype, silkscreen painting, printmaking, poster. His works are characterized by expression of color, emotional expressiveness of the image. The artist pays special attention to experiment, the formal pictorial elements, free use of visual techniques.

Among his works are: composition «The Brother Has Come Back» (1984); landscapes «Over the Dvina» (1980), «Catholic Church in Kamai» (1981), «Vitebsk» (1992), «Memoirs of Belitsa» (1995), «Winter Evening» (2005), «In Vitebsk» (2006); still lives «Yellow Flowers» (1984), «Dahlia» (1986), «Wild Flowers» (2002); a series of bookplates (1972-2001); portraits and others.

Nikolai Alekseevich is the author of more than 30 catalogs of Vitebsk artists, posters, exhibitions and art events.

His works are kept in the funds of Belarusian Union of Artists, Vitebsk Regional Museum, gallery «Young Art» (Schetin, Poland).
