Biography

Shilko Viktor (14.07.1952, v-ge Zarechye, Gorodok district, Vitebsk region – 15.07.2023,Vitebsk), the Belarusian painter. He graduated from Art and Graphic Department of Vitebsk State Pedagogical Institute (1974). A member of the creative association «Square" (1987). A member of Belarusian Union of Artists (1986). He lived in Vitebsk.

The artist worked mainly in easel painting. The main area in art - abstract painting. Since 2002 he is engaged in a conceptual painting.

Among the works are: «Memory of the Father» (1976), «Minay's Oath» (1978), «Vitebsk» (1979), «Came Back from the War» (1985), «In Memory of the Four Hostages» (1985), «Purification» (1989 ), «The Yellow and the Blue» (2000), «A Tree in the Field» (2001), «Landscape» (2006), «It was a Cold Windy Day» (2007), «Call Me Once More, Mother» (2007), «Red Frame for a Black Square» (2008), «Spring Thoughts» (2008), «Above the Dvina» (2009), «The Street in Lepel» (2009), a triptych «Movement» (2009) and others.

His works are kept in National Art Museum in Minsk, Minsk Museum of Modern Art, Vitebsk Regional Museum of Art, the Museum «Vitebsk Center of Contemporary Art», the Museum of Marc Chagall, the Museum of Modern European Art (Seoul, Korea); as well as in private collections in Belarus, Russia, Latvia, Austria, Germany, Holland, USA, Spain, Poland, Canada, Finland.
