Biography

 

Glebov Alexander (11.04.1955, Grodno – 13.07.2008, Vitebsk), a Belarusian photographic artist. He had no special training. The artist lived in Vitebsk since 1961.

A. Glebov worked in such genres as nude and artistic portrait, urban photography, advertising photography.

Among his works are: «What Fun the Two of Us Are Having» (1974), «Ecstasy» (1976), «Atelier» (1976), «The Parable of the Proud Beauty» (1977), «Portrait "By the Window"» (1987), «The Girl in White» (1987), «Chagall's Motive» (2000), «Lovelorn Bride» (2000), «Innocence» (2000), a series «Summer in Palminka» (the early 1980s), images dedicated to the old Vitebsk (1978 - 2006).

Soft silhouettes and smoothed edges, spatial airiness of plastically impactful shapes is inherent in his works. Contrasts and comparisons as well as accessories of models play an essential role while creating images for portraits and compositions.

Alexander Glebov is a prize winner of several international photography contests such as: VII International Salon of Photographic Art «Venus» (Krakow, Poland), the contest held by a Prague magazine «Photo revue», «INTERNATIONALER ZEISS-PRAKTICA (FOTOWETTBEWERS)» contest (1987), «FOTOKONKURS NSVL GO THE USSR» photo contest (Tallinn, Estonia). Besides he is a winner of two awards from «Autopilot» magazine (1997).

The artist actively worked with «Transglobe» photo agency (Hamburg, Germany), with the following magazines: «Sovetskoye Photo» (the USSR), «Pani», «Kobieta», «Cats», «Sukces», «Playboy» (Poland) where his photos were published in 1980s and 1990s.
