Biography

 

Kovalchuk Valery (11.01.1955, Gomel - 08.09.2009, Vitebsk), Belarusian artist of decorative and applied arts. He graduated from Abramtsev Industrial Art College named after V. Vasnetsov (1976). A member of Belarusian Union of Artists (1997). Lived in Vitebsk.

He worked in the field of decorative and industrial ceramics, mainly in the technique of porcelain and majolica. A number of works were carried out in collaboration with L. Kovalchuk.

Among the major works are: «Little Dragon» (1977), «Dandelions» (1980), «Kings» (1985), «Song» (1985, triptych), «Visiting Khrutsky» (1998), «Masks» (1998), «Mosaic of the Time» (1999), «Autumn is Coming»(all - 1999), «Tea Party with Kazimir» (2000), «Songs» (2000), Dedication to N. Gusovsky» (2000), «Faces of the Time» (2001), «First Snow» (2001), «Blue Bird» (2002), «I Like Fairy Tales» (2002), «Lake Drisvyatyv», «Kupala Night» (2008, triptych), «The Church in Vidzy» (2008 ), «Lake God's Eye» (2008), «The Sounds of the Night» (2008 triptych), «Nests» (2008). The author of the sets «Recollection of Leningrad» (1980), «Alesya» (1982), tea set «Rainbow» (1983); coffee set «Belorussian Flax» (1983); decorative dishes «Rushnyki», «Morning», «Rainbow» (both - 1983), «Bird's Time» (2003); decorative vases «Gomel», «Anniversary» (both - 1981), «Spring» (1983), «Autumn Rain» (1983), «Dzintary» (1984), «Flourish, my Minsk» (1985), «Frescos» (2006) and others.
