Biography
Alexander Lisov (07.07.1959, Shchuchin, Grodno region), a doctoral candidate of the Institute of Arts, Ethnography and Folklore of the National Academy of Sciences, an assistant professor of General History and World Culture of the Historical Faculty of Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov. He graduated from the Vitebsk State Pedagogical Institute named after S. Kirov (1981), postgraduate course of the Institute of Arts, Ethnography and Folklore of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR (1992). A Candidate of Arts (1998). He defended his thesis on «Art life of Belarus in the second half of the 19th – early 20th centuries». The artist has been working in Vitebsk State University since 1986; since 1992 – as a lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor (since 1999). A member of the Belarusian Union of Artists (2014).
Research interests: the Belarusian art of the 19th – 20th centuries, the history of Russian avant-garde art. He examines the creative work of M. Chagall, K. Malevich and his disciples, L. Lisitsky, P. Mansurov. The author of more than 150 publications including monographs «The Artist Isaac Borowsky» (1997), «Krayaznavets Mіkalay Kaspyarovіch» (2000), «Historian V. Veyger-Reidemeister» (2004), «Sapunovsky seats of Vitebsk and its surroundings» (2001, 2004) (all co-authored), a co-author of the collective work «Malevich about Himself. Contemporaries of Malevich. Letters. Documentation. Critique» in 2 volumes (2004), album-catalog «Isaac Borowsky» (2007), deputy editor and the author of the anthology «Chagall International Yearbook» (2003–2007), the author of publications in the anthology «Malevich. Classic Avant-garde. Vitebsk».
A participant of international congresses, conferences, exhibition projects in France, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, Lithuania, the Ukraine, Russia.
