Biography

 

Belyavsky Vasily Nikolaevich (18.03.1924, v-ge Krashino, Orsha region – 30.04.2008, Vitebsk), Belarussian artist. He graduated from Art and Graphic Department of Vitebsk State Pedagogical Institute (1970). Vasiiy Nikolaevich is a participant of the Great Patriotic War. Since 1942 he fought in field forces. Since 1945 the artist worked in the institutions of culture and education, public institutions: the head of Bogushevsky Palace of Culture, a teacher in Bogushevsk secondary school, the head of the cinema (1966–1969), the head Vitebsk Art Workshops of the Art Fund of the Belarussian SSR (1969–1981). He was decorated with Great Patriotic War Order (I degree), with 3 Distinguished Service Medals, with medal «For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945», etc. since. Vasily Nikolaevich is a member of the Union of Artists (1988).

He worked mainly in easel painting. Among his major works: thematic compositions on the theme of World War II «The Places of Partisan Glory» (1977), «The Meeting of the Soviet Army with Guerrillas» (1980), «The Barrow of Partisan Glory» (1981), «Wounded Land» (1981), landscapes «Indian Summer» (1973), «Luchesa» (1976), «Snow in May» (1978), «Spring Landscape» (1979), «The River Tikhaya» (1982), «Morning» (1983), «Before Sunset» (1984), «Lake Vorony» (1984), portraits «Portrait of the Foreman» (1970), «Portrait of the Hero of Socialist Labor Ramchenko» (1971), «Nurse» (1973), still lives «Autumn Still Life» (1982).

His works are kept in the National Art Museum of Belarus, Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local History.
