Biography
Memus Alexander (13.09.1939 v-ge Prussy, Starodorozhsky district, Minsk region.), Belarusian artist. He graduated from Vladivostok Art College (1966), Graphics Department of Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture Department named after I. E. Repin of Arts Academy of the USSR (1974). In Vitebsk the artist taught at Vitebsk State University (1974-99).
He works in various graphic techniques (pencil drawing, pastel, ink, mixed technique), watercolors, painting (portrait, still life, landscape, subject and abstract composition).
Among the works are: watercolors «We Come and Leave» (2002), diptych «Time of Terror» (2002), cycles «Along the Shore» (1987-92), «Witnesses» (1992-95), «Time Signs» (1995-99 ); compositions in gouache and mixed technique «Evening in Shklov» (1986), «Civilization» (2002), the diptych «Need for Fire» (2005); pastels «Two Black Roses» (1985), «Luchesa» (1987); drawings - pencil «Viteblyanka» (1984), «Side Street in Polotsk» (1989), pen ink - a series «Gothic Reminiscences» (2003-10); pictorial composition «Our Korotkevich» (2002) and others.
