Biography

Borovsky Isaac (18.11.1921, Vitebsk – 05.03.1991, Vitebsk), a Belarusian painter. He graduated from Vitebsk Art School (1941). He was taught by L. M. Leytman, V. Ya. Khrustaleva, A. P. Mozolev. Since 1966 he was a member of the Belarusian Union of Artists. He lived in Vitebsk.
He worked in easel painting in the genres of portraiture, landscape, still life, graphics. The works of the artist are characterized by vibrant saturated color, plasticity of composition.

Among his works are: the portraits of T. Tarasov, T. Kovalenko, V. Parakhnevich, Professor I. Sosnovik, an artist G. Shutov, a partisan commander D. Raytsev, a milkmaid A. Nikolaeva, «Nurse» (all 1967–1970), the chairman of the kolkhoz M. Kats (1975), «Young Collective Farm Girl» (1978), a psychiatrist B. Anishchenko (1981), «Portrait of a Girl in Lilac» (1987), a teacher M. Zhdan (1991); the landscapes «After Thunderstorm», «By the Lake», «Autumn»; the still lifes «Asters», «Bread» (all 1991), the composition «Pen Yu.» (1988–1989), etc.

The works of the artist are kept at the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, in the archives of the Belarusian Union of Artists, at the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local History, in public institutions and private collections of Belarus, Germany, the USA, Israel, Poland.
