Biography
Gvozdikov Alexander (29.11.1951, Vitebsk), a Belarusian sculptor. He graduated from the Belarusian Theatre and Art Institute (1976). Since 1973 he participates in art exhibitions. Since 1985 he is a member of the Belarusian Union of Artists. Alexander was in charge of the Vitebsk Branch of the Belarusian Union of Artists. He lives in Vitebsk.
He works in the field of monumental and easel sculpture. The materials used are bronze, plaster, concrete.
The monumental works include the monument in honor of the Hero of the Soviet Union A. Uglovsky (1978, Vitebsk District), the memorial ensemble dedicated to M. Shmyryov's children (1984), the Marc Chagall monument, (1992, Vitebsk), the Ivan Khrutsky monument (1996), the monument to the People's Artist of Belarus G. Dubov (1996); the plaques in memory of the Heroes of the Soviet Union such as I. Chernyakhovsky (1987), General I. Ludnikov (1995), and in memory of the painter Ye. Pen (2007) (all are in Vitebsk). He is the author of the following easel compositions: «Father's Portrait» (1975), «Repin in Zdravnevo» (1987), «MА-MА!!!» (2004), the triptych «Birth of Flight» (1980), etc.
Finish, laconicism, expressive rhythmics, and plastic modelling are inherent in his works.
The artist's works are kept in the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local History, The Marc Chagall Museum, etc.
