Biography

Barsukov Igor (20.09.1949, Vitebsk – 02.01.2021, Vitebsk), a Belarusian photographic artist. He graduated from Art and Graphic Department of Vitebsk State Pedagogical Institute named after S. Kirov (1976). Since 1967 to 1981 he worked in the sphere of public services for population. Since 1981, the artist worked as a photographer and teacher in Vitebsk State Technological Institute (later – university). Since 1982, he's a member of the photo club «Vitba», since 2000 – a member of Belarusian Union of Designers.
He works in different genres of black-and-white photography: photoreport, portrait, architectural landscape.
His works are characterized by a combination of chronicle photography and contiguity, emotional intensity and rational sense, a parable undertone, the portrayal of the photographed as socially phenomenal. His portraits are based on the desire to convey the character and psychological state of a model, its unique identity.
