Biography

Medvedsky Leonid (27.10.1956, Vitebsk), Belarusian painter. In 1983 he graduated from Art and Graphic Department of Vitebsk Pedagogic Institute. The artist teaches in Art School for children №1 in Vitebsk. A participant of art exhibition (since 1982). Since 1997 he is a member of Belarusian Union of Artists. He lives in Vitebsk.

The artist works mainly in gouache and tempera technique, appeals to landscape, still life and portrait. Expressive psychological mood and wealth of colour intonations are characteristics of his works.

Among his works are: «Sad flowers» (1984), «Melody» (1985), «Path in Forest» (1987), «In Town» (1989), «Winter Dream» (1993), «Autumn. Chrysanthemums» (1994), «Spring. Pine Trees» (1995), «Spring. Golden Light» (1996), «Sunny day» (1996), «Passing Summer» (2001), «Autumn. Mazurino Park» (2002), series «Estate in Opsa» (1986), «Flowers» (1989-90), «Winter Views Trough the Window» (1994-96), «Storyboard» (2002-06), «Approach to the Shore in Mysterious Seas» (2008) and others.

His works are kept in Polotsk Art Gallery, Marc Chagall Museum and Vitebsk Art Museum, in Nienburg Museum (Germany) and in private collections in Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, France, Germany, Finland, Israel and Belarus.
