Biography

 

Volnov Vladimir (29.08.1939, v-ge Gorodno, Beshenkovichy district, Vitebsk region – 18.12.2023, Vitebsk), Belarusian graphic artist and painter. He graduated from Design Department of Kharkov Art and Industry Institute (1971). Vladimir Nikolaevich has been participating in art exhibitions since 1975. He is a member of Belarusian Union of Artists (1979). The artist lived in Vitebsk.

In the works the artist touches upon the issues of relationship between the man and the environment, ecology, war, the tragic fate of the village, ancient Vitebsk, Christian morality, spirituality problems, concerns about the preserving of the heritage.

Among his works are: «In Memory of Partisans» (1975), «Return. Devoted to the Father» (1985), «The Return of Angel» (1994), «Suprematist Yard» (1999), «The Eyes of Suffering Christ» (2000), «Mournful Land» (2004), «Rooster. Call» (2005), «Plastic Art of My Land» (2007); collages «Would Like to Name All» (1996), «The Prayers of Our Fathers» (1999); a series of lithographies «My Town» (1981), a series of pastels «The Town of My Childhood» (1982), «Dead Village» (1991–92), triptychs «Effaced Facial Features» (1985), «Old Town» (1991); installations «Family. The Crucified» (1996), «Memory. Holocaust» (2005), «Dedication to Mothers» (2006), etc.

His works are kept in National Art Museum of Belarus, the funds of Belarusian Union of Artists, Vitebsk Art Museum.
