Biography

Shmerling Mikhail (07.12.1946, Vitebsk), Belarusion photographer. He graduated from Minsk College of Printing (1967). A member of the Union of Journalists of Belarus (1976). He had been worked at Vitebsk Regional Museum (1969-83), the production association «Mastatstva» (1986–91), the editorial office of the regional newspaper «Narodnaya Slova» (1991–2007). He won first prize at the All-Union exhibition «Photographica-71» (1971), became a medal winner at the international exhibition «Man and Earth» (Plateliai, Lithuania, 1973), was awarded the diplomas of the photo studios in Romania (1971, 1973), England (1974).

He works in different genres of art photography.

Among the works are: «Braslavsky Motif» (1982), «Artist F. Gumen» (1985), «People's Artist of the USSR S. Stanyuta» (1990), «Evening» (1991), «Actress Natalia Aladka» (1992), «Briefing» (2000), «Artist G. Shutov» (2001), «Afghan War Veterans» (2005), «A Whole Century is Past... » (2007); the series «Old Vitebsk» (1971–75), «Theatre» (1975–85), «Veterans. The Month of May» (1975-2007), «Artists» (2010) and others.
